Description

Overview

AIR is currently seeking a Technical Assistance Consultant/Qualitative Researcher to join our Education Systems Program Area within AIR’s Human Services Division to aid us with improving outcomes in Education. The Technical Assistance Consultant/Qualitative Researcher will contribute their experience and energy by working on a variety of technical assistance and qualitative research projects focused on supporting equitable student success through high school and into postsecondary education and training.

Work within technical assistance and qualitative research projects includes (1) supporting educators in their efforts to improve systems, processes, and practices (2) designing and implementing systemic change processes, and (3) conducting and translating qualitative research to build knowledge on effective strategies.

Candidates for the role must have interest in translating research and evidence into training and technical assistance, and experience providing training, facilitation, and coaching support to education personnel on topics related to middle/high school improvement and/or college and career readiness.

Candidates hired for the position might initially start working remotely but will eventually have the option to work from one of our offices located in Arlington, VA; Rockville, MD; Austin, TX; Chicago, IL; Chapel Hill, NC; Waltham, MA; Sacramento, CA or continue to work remotely.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities for the position include:

  • Develop training materials, toolkits, curricula, and assessment tools.
  • Provide training and technical assistance to educators and education stakeholders
  • Build and maintain relationships with diverse audiences, including working with state and national partners
  • Support schools, districts, and states to develop and implement early warning systems and dropout prevention strategies
  • Write reports, including briefs, charts, and graphs that describe and interpret findings for diverse audiences
  • Conduct qualitative research and analyze qualitative data sets including but not limited to focus groups and interviews
  • Manage or lead projects or tasks, with increasing responsibility over time
  • Handle multiple tasks independently and simultaneously
  • Participate in business development activities including proposal development and professional networking activities
  • The ability to travel up to 20-30% of the time

Education, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Master’s degree with 4+ years of experience or Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of experience in education, youth development, out-of-school time, or other related fields
  • Experience developing evidence-based training and technical assistance tools and materials and providing training and technical assistance related to middle/high school improvement and/or college and career readiness strategies
  • Experience conducting qualitative research and sharing findings with diverse audiences
  • Experience in equity and improving outcomes for racially and linguistically diverse students

 Skills:

  • Passionate about topics related to re-engaging students and improving outcomes for students a must
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills including strong communication skills, with the ability to produce concise, high-level summaries and briefings

Disclosures:
