Lead MDT Technical Advisor-Elder Abuse (33421)
Position Summary
The NYC Elder Abuse Center at Weill Cornell Medicine (NYCEAC) works with local, statewide and national partners to develop and implement innovative and collaborative approaches to the complex problem of elder mistreatment and to improve the ways professionals, organizations and systems respond to it. One such approach to improving responses to elder mistreatment is elder abuse multidisciplinary teams (MDTs). With high quality training and technical assistance, teams will develop and thrive as effective forums for addressing complex cases of elder mistreatment.
This position will work with a team of professionals from around the country to develop, implement, and operate a newly formed National Elder Abuse MDT Training and Technical Assistance Center (“the Center”). The Center will provide case consultations, training and technical assistance (TA) to MDTs funded by the Department of Justice's (DOJ) Office of Victims of Crime.
Job Responsibilities
- Convenes, coordinates and facilitates a team of TA Advisors.
- Facilitates the development of the Center’s structure for training and Technical Assistance including developing policies and procedures for proper and timely service delivery.
- Works in consultation with the TA team to identify, review and adapt extant elder abuse materials to support the development, maintenance and sustainability of the MDTs.
- Adapts and develops materials to be used for training and Technical Assistance purposes, e.g., a guide explicating the role of the MDT Coordinator; information on case finding; and suggestions for getting buy-in of key leaders and staff.
- Communicates with and coordinates the MDTs with respect to training and Technical Assistance services offered by the Center.
- Leads the team of TA Advisors and works directly with the MDTs to monitor the training and Technical Assistance that the Center provides to ensure high quality services.
- Coordinates consultant specialists in collaboration with partnering Resource TA Advisor(s).
- Ensures the system for intake and service provision operates effectively and efficiently, that services provided are standardized, and troubleshoots any technical support and case consultation problems that arise.
- Oversees the collection of data by the TA Team for program evaluation purposes and for preparation of funder reports.
- Gathers qualitative data for assessment of Center’s services provided to MDTs through site visits around the country and through consultations with the TA Team ; gathers data about experience of the TAs and Trainers in providing services to MDTs.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education
- Master's Degree
Experience
- Master's Degree in related field (e.g., Social Work, Gerontology, Public Administration)
- Demonstrated experience and strong knowledge base in elder abuse and enhanced multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience facilitating strong partnerships and working in teams highly desired.
- Appreciation of cultural humility and how to infuse that into the work of the Nat'l EA MDT TTA Center's work with tribal communities and other groups is highly desired.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Advanced time management and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite and database applications.
- Demonstrated supervisory skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Excellent problem solving skills with the ability to analyze, think critically, prioritize, and make decisions.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
Must be available for occasional travel for site visits.
